iOS 18 : Top 6 Features You Need To Know!
Apple’s upcoming iOS 18 is set to bring significant updates and enhancements to iPhones, combining advanced AI features, design overhauls, and app upgrades.
Key Features of iOS 18
- Enhanced AI and Siri:
iOS 18 will introduce advanced AI functionalities, particularly through Siri. Utilizing large language models (LLMs), Siri will offer more conversational interactions, proactive intelligence, and the ability to handle more complex tasks. These improvements aim to transform Siri into a more versatile virtual assistant. - Home Screen Customization:
Users will now have more control over their home screens, with the ability to freely place app icons and widgets, breaking away from the traditional fixed grid system. This feature also includes new theming options, allowing for custom icon colors and a more personalized home screen experience. - Control Center Overhaul:
The Control Center will see significant changes, including the ability to create distinct function groups and resize widgets. Users will also be able to customize which widgets appear on the lock screen, enhancing usability and personalization. - Photos App Redesign:
The Photos app will undergo its most significant redesign yet, featuring a unified view that combines a photo grid and dates grid, alongside new filtering options to easily locate specific photos. This overhaul aims to streamline photo management and improve the user experience. - Messages Enhancements:
The Messages app will support new text effects, message scheduling, and expanded satellite communication capabilities. Additionally, it will integrate the RCS standard for richer messaging experiences with non-Apple devices, ensuring broader compatibility and functionality. - App and Feature Updates:
Several built-in apps, including Safari, Mail, and Wallet, will receive updates. Safari will feature an intelligent search tool and a potential “Web Eraser” function, while Mail will categorize emails more effectively. The Wallet app will introduce a “tap to cash” feature for easier payments.
Compatibility and Release
iOS 18 will be compatible with iPhones from the iPhone XS onwards, including all models equipped with the A12 Bionic chipset or newer. However, some advanced AI features will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro models, which boast the A17 Pro chipset.
Apple plans to roll out iOS 18 later this year, following its announcement at WWDC 2024. While the initial release will include many new features, some, particularly those related to AI, will be introduced in subsequent updates.
