The NTR Commissionerate’s cybercrime police successfully tracked 400 mobile phones valued at ₹50 lakh. These phones were returned to their rightful owners during a program on Sunday, led by Police Commissioner S.V. Rajasekhar Babu.

Mobile Phone Recovery Drive

This recovery is part of an ongoing effort where the cybercrime unit has retrieved 1,785 lost and missing mobile phones across three phases. The police rely on IMEI numbers provided by victims to file complaints with the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), helping them trace phones through telecom service providers.

Importance of Mobile Data Security

Commissioner Rajasekhar Babu highlighted the growing importance of mobile phone security, noting that devices today hold sensitive information, including bank details and personal data. This has made mobile recovery a priority for law enforcement.

Success Stories

Among the recipients was 80-year-old Guthikonda Anjaneyulu, who was delighted to retrieve his lost phone. Anjaneyulu, who lost his phone at Pandit Nehru Bus Station, urged others to report missing phones immediately.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Gowtami Sali, CCS Raja Rao, and Additional DCP G. Ramakrishna were present at the event. The police emphasized their use of advanced technology to ensure a higher recovery rate for missing phones.
