Meta newest VR headset is set to launch on October 15

Meta newest VR headset, the Meta Quest 3S, is set to launch on October 15 with a price tag of just $300. Despite being $200 cheaper than the Meta Quest 3, the Quest 3S offers nearly all the same features. It includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform and full-color passthrough vision for a seamless mixed-reality experience.

The new headset also features Meta’s Horizon OS, allowing users to switch between apps, games, and immersive experiences with ease. With 128GB of storage in the base model (expandable to 256GB for $100 more), the Quest 3S is designed for accessibility, offering a lower buy-in to virtual reality.

Meta has significantly reduced the price of its high-end models, with the Quest 3 now available at $500 for the 512GB version. Meanwhile, production on older models like the Quest 2 and Quest Pro will soon be halted.

Meta’s push towards affordable VR aligns with lessons learned from Apple’s Vision Pro, as Meta aims to cater to the wider, more price-conscious consumer base.

The headset is available for preorder and includes a pre-installed Batman: Arkham Shadow game for early buyers, offering a thrilling introduction to VR gaming.

This release marks Meta’s continued commitment to making VR more accessible and affordable, signaling its shift in focus towards wider adoption of mixed reality.
