Apple Rolls Out iOS 18 Release After iPhone 16 Launch

Apple has rolled out the iOS 18 Release Candidate (RC) update, marking the final step before the official public release. This update follows the unveiling of the iPhone 16 series and is available to developers ahead of the September 16 public release.

iOS 18 Features and AI Tools

iOS 18 introduces advanced customization options for home and lock screens and Apple Intelligence—Apple’s generative AI feature. Although AI-powered tools like writing assistants, Image Playground, and a smarter Siri are highlights, they will only be available on iPhone 15 Pro models and the iPhone 16 series. These AI tools will not launch immediately but will arrive with the iOS 18.1 update next month.

Device Compatibility

Apple has confirmed that iOS 18 will be available on various devices, including the iPhone XR and iPhone SE (2022), ensuring many older models receive the update. However, some features will remain exclusive to newer models.

Additional Updates

Besides AI enhancements, iOS 18 brings customizable control center options, replaceable lock screen icons, and improvements to the Photos app. Apple also introduces a long-awaited call recording feature on iPhone.

With the final version arriving soon, users can expect a range of new features and improvements designed to elevate the iPhone experience.
