Epic Games Store is now available for download on Android devices globally
Epic Games has officially launched its digital storefront on mobile devices, marking a significant expansion for the company. The Epic Games Store is now available for download on Android devices globally, while iPhone users in the European Union can also access the store.
In a press release, Epic revealed that the process of installing the store on mobile devices is intentionally complex, with the company blaming Apple and Google for introducing poor-quality installation experiences. Despite these hurdles, the launch marks a critical step in Epic’s efforts to expand its platform.
The mobile version of the Epic Games Store mirrors the desktop experience, offering developers an 88/12 revenue share. Additionally, Epic announced the return of Fortnite to mobile devices, available through its store and the AltStore for EU users. Alongside Fortnite, games like Fall Guys and Rocket League Sideswipe are also now accessible on Android and EU iPhones.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney expressed gratitude to the European Commission for facilitating the launch, emphasizing the growing competition in the mobile ecosystem. This move represents a significant victory for developers and consumers alike, offering more choices and opportunities in the mobile gaming market.
