HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Infinix GT 20 Pro sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen
  • The handset features dual speakers tuned by JBL
  • The Infinix GT 20 Pro is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery

Overview

Infinix has launched the GT 20 Pro, a budget-friendly gaming smartphone featuring a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate SoC and a dedicated Pixelworks chip for enhanced gaming performance. Priced starting at Rs. 24,999, this device aims to deliver high-end gaming capabilities without breaking the bank. Let’s see how it performs.

Design and Build

The GT 20 Pro features Infinix’s Cyber Mecha design with a Mecha Loop Lighting system inspired by Nothing’s Glyph interface. It has a clear panel on the back with a metallic finish and RGB LED lighting in a ‘G’ shape for notifications, charging, and music. The phone’s sides are made of metallic-looking plastic, providing a secure grip. The power button and volume rocker are on the right, while the SIM tray, USB Type-C port, and speaker grille are at the bottom. There’s no 3.5mm headphone jack, but an IR blaster is present for controlling devices.

Display

The phone boasts a 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1,300 nits of peak brightness. It offers good visibility outdoors and performs well in everyday apps and games.

Hardware and Performance

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chip, the GT 20 Pro includes up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It features a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging and support for bypass charging while gaming. The phone runs on Android 14 with Infinix’s XOS 14 for GT skin, promising two major Android upgrades and a third year of security updates. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, NFC, and more.

Performance

The GT 20 Pro excels in gaming, supporting up to 90fps in games like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile. It handles heavy titles like Genshin Impact on medium settings without stuttering. The phone’s cooling fan helps maintain performance during long gaming sessions. Benchmark scores are impressive, with 895,790 points on AnTuTu v10 and strong results on Geekbench and graphics tests.

Camera

The GT 20 Pro features a 108MP primary camera with OIS, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary camera captures detailed images in good lighting but struggles with color accuracy in low light. The macro camera is mediocre, and the selfie camera performs decently. The phone supports 4K/60fps video recording with OIS.

Comparison with Competitors

Poco X6 Pro: The Poco X6 Pro outperforms the GT 20 Pro in benchmark tests but falls short in display and gaming-specific features.

Samsung Galaxy F55: The Galaxy F55 offers a better all-around experience, especially in camera performance, but may not match the GT 20 Pro’s gaming prowess.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion and OnePlus Nord CE 4: These phones provide balanced performance with better software experiences but lack the GT 20 Pro’s gaming optimization.

Verdict

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is an excellent choice for gamers on a budget, offering top-tier performance, a smooth display, and a clutter-free OS. While other phones in the same price range might offer better overall experiences, the GT 20 Pro stands out for its gaming capabilities.
