How it got here
The IPO was far from smooth. In May, Bloomberg reported it had slowed as the Iran war hit Indian markets, and Reliance moved to a fresh-issue-only structure. Jio filed its draft papers on June 19, and SEBI’s observations were reported on August 28.
Akash Ambani called the listing a new beginning, with the next decade focused on AI, cloud and space technology, Business Standard reported. Jio has 53.33 crore subscribers and about 28.5 crore 5G users, as of June.
Why it matters for mobile shops
Jio’s revenue per user was ₹215.6 in the June quarter, against Airtel’s ₹264. Investors will be watching that number, but no tariff change has been announced. Watch for changes in recharge plans, and avoid giving customers investment advice.
