Vodafone Idea shareholders have approved a ₹4,730 crore investment from Aditya Birla Group entity Suryaja Investments at ₹11 a share, TelecomTalk reported on June 12, 2026.

The deal covers over 430 crore shares and would raise the group’s holding from about 9% to close to 13%. Vi plans to use the money for network expansion. Details are based on Business Today.

Reports describe this differently as share or warrant allotment. A first tranche of ₹1,182.5 crore was reported on June 23, with the rest over 18 months.

What it means for Vi

Vi is also in talks with banks for debt funding, and TelecomTalk said lenders remain cautious because of its finances.

For customers, the test is network quality. Vi’s June numbers were modestly positive, with 1.64 lakh users added.

Why it matters for mobile shops

If Vi’s network improves in your area, its recharges and SIMs will be easier to sell. Keep an eye on local coverage, not headlines. For now, Vi customers worried about the company can be told that it is raising money to invest in its network.
